Got a $12,000 quote? Read it like we would.
Replacement quotes in north Dallas run from fair to wildly optimistic about what your house needs. The day we open, we read any quote, check the sizing and the scope, and tell you what we would do, in writing, for free. Today, our guide walks you through the same twelve lines we check.
Start with how to read an AC replacement quote, then the two rules for repair or replace. If you join the opening list and leave the quote details in the note, we reply to it the week we open.
- A $400 repair on a system with years left is a common ending.
- Oversized systems short cycle and leave the house humid. The tonnage gets checked against the house, not the old unit.
- If the quote is fair, you hear that too, and you can take it back to them with confidence.
- We do not sell systems, so the advice has nothing riding on it. When it is time, we refer a licensed installer we trust.
Second opinion questions
What do you actually check?
Sizing against the house, whether the quoted equipment matches the problem described, whether the ductwork was assessed, what the warranty covers, and whether the price is in line with market ranges. Then we tell you plainly if a repair would have been the right call.
Is it really free?
Reviewing the quote is free. If you want us to inspect the system in person, the diagnostic fee applies only if we end up doing the work.
Will you try to sell me your own system?
No. We do not sell or install new systems. Our technicians are not paid on commission, and a fair share of second opinions end with us saying the repair is the better spend. When it really is time, we refer you to a licensed installer we trust and check their quote.
My system is past repair. What now?
Tell us what failed and the age of the system, or book a diagnostic so we can confirm it. You get a written assessment, a referral to a licensed installer, and a free review of their quote before you sign.
